Reality Check about the Coolest Metro in India

Bangalore – The Electronic City...so much has been written about the coolest metro in India- All of which is such a facade!!!!!

I stay at Whitefield, the famous area for any MNC to be. The beauty is that I am facing issues with finding a job, internet connections, ATMs, Cooking Gas deliveries etc just because I cant afford to stay in a gated community! I stay in a normal 3 BHK house in a normal society. Normal society here means – having a gym, clubhouse, play area, generator back up (the electricity supply is almost as bad as Gurgaon), own allocated parking spot, etc etc. I pay the same rent that I used to pay for 1 BHK in Mumbai.....but then .....I would prefer going back to Mumbai any day!!

Bangalore’s climate acts as a soothing balm to all the above mentioned deterrents!! The cool comfortable 24-26 degree & the roadside flowering trees were the first things I noticed when I landed here.

Then came the harsh reality. The locals are very greedy and hike prices for basic essentials at the drop of a hat & they expect you to praise their measly service. Same goes with the maids, milkman, etc etc. I cant find a decent & cost effective tailor or a beauty parlour here. The worst thing is that that the home deliveries which you order online for your groceries would generally arrive after 24-36 hours. So much for online shopping!! So, in the end, the nagging main point is that I need to have real deep pockets to be here. Wish I could loot a bank or something!!

As for the transportation part, it’s awesome in the city area but in the suburbs, its sparse.....like common sense in our Government!! So one has to rely on owns two legs or a vehicle. Better still, a four wheeler which would make you feel safe!! Its pretty unsafe for a lone female outside the society where she stays. Women do get molested in broad day light. So I always carry a long handled umbrella, pepper spray, Swiss Army knife & a small powder box filled with red chilly powder. (Till date, no bloody bastard has bothered me as I look quite a Jhansi ki rani when I step out with my umbrella!!)

Yes, the general immigrant public is very cosmopolitan in their outlook, the same cant be said for the locals who date back to 17th century A D. In general, people are conservative & chauvinistic. This can be noticed everywhere from behind the counters to the brokers to the taxi drivers, who prefer talking to the male counterparts only.

One of the sorest points is that I still haven’t got a job yet!! Which is very very surprising as B’lore is supposed to be a mecca for the unemployed!! That HR lady had made loads of empty promises and now I don’t want to talk to her even as I fear that I may get diabetes from her sweet talks!!

People had told me about the pubs in Bangalore and that there are several cool places to hang out! I ask them – where????? Where can I go and drown my sorrows OR dance away in affordable peace?????

So much for Bangalore and so much for a cosmo cool city!! BALDERDASH!!
