UNOPERATABLE INFECTIOUS WARTS

Its not that I am against drinking alcohol by men.....but am aganist the insensitive and rash behaviour that occurs afterwards. I do enjoy an occasional glass of rose’ or red wine. I am keen to try newer varieties of wines. But I am not obsessed with it.


Some men, however, enjoy the fact that they are able to disgust people around them by showing obnoxious behaviour after drinking. The plea of avoiding drink in front of small children or in the front room or while the lamps are being lit in the evening for the pooja or when somebody has put up a pooja at home or when guests are being expected -----fall on deaf ears. They feel that it is their birth right to drink as they have earned it after many sacrifices for the family or that they are the eldest in the family and have the complete freedom to behave in whichever way they want or they have every right to drink in their son’s house as it is their house too. After drinking more than 2 pegs, the effect takes place. And how!!!


The language becomes slurred. The clothes become haywired. They start going to the past and abusing as well as downgrading the relatives present. At the same time start the character assassination of the people who had earlier requested them not to drink for the reasons mentioned above. Also, they start telling stories out of their own imagination forcing people around them to believe that these stories are actual facts. These stories aren’t facts....but since it is a common belief that a person starts telling the truth under the influence of alcohol.......many believe it. Unfortunately.


Many a relation is spoiled for good. The respect and a feeling of love towards that person gets diminished to a bare social requisite minimum. (In my case....its zero). I tried believing in the excuses given that the person has a good heart, doesn’t say things out of spite, is very quite and non aggressive etc etc. But these excuses are all false for I have seen, experienced and understood the logic by the same pattern of behaviour each time. Such people are the most manipulative on the earth. They are also the most selfish for they can never seem to see beyond their interests and self gratification. They play games with emotions of people around them and create unnecessary rifts. When they pretend that they are sane the next day, then they try playing the bridge between the rifts that took place trying to look magnanimous and peace makers!!


Hypocrite is too small a word to describe these people. I would love to name them trouble makers for they are fully aware of their actions even if they have drunk 2 lts of alcoholic drinks. They enjoy being the trouble makers and then try to forger peace so as to earn the good name. Also, they plan their actions and words before they start drinking. So it all falls according to the plan, you see. Think about whom to attack or impress or dominate or show down, drink , say out & act all the plans, pretend to go to sleep or rest, then again after some time pretend to be sober, start discussing what had happened , try to forge peace between the people or with that person with arguments, cajolments, counter arguments, threats, social reasoning etc, and then behave as if one has solved a great social problem.


Its very difficult to handle such manipulators. More the fact that if they are your very close relatives from the other side, then it becomes all the more difficult due to social reasons. One does wish that such relations were easy to cut off with scissors ....but no...these people get stuck with you like unoperatable infectious warts!!! Wish I could find a fool proof plan of avoiding such characters in my life!!
